The problems

What actually holds growth back

OTAs take 15 to 25 percent of every room night

Booking platforms fill rooms, then take a fifth of the revenue and keep the guest's email. When your own name is searched, the OTA ad still sits above your website, so you pay commission on guests who were already looking for you.

Guests decide on photos and reviews you do not control

Travellers compare your Google rating, the last five reviews and the photos guests uploaded, not the ones your photographer took. A slow response to one complaint about the pool sits at the top of your profile for months.

Enquiries arrive on WhatsApp at midnight and go unanswered

Weddings, corporate offsites and family stays all start with a "rates for 12 to 14 Dec?" message. If the front desk answers at 9 am, the booking went to the resort that replied at 11:30 pm with a rate card.

Our playbook

How we grow businesses like yours

Win the brand search and the map

Google Business Profile with hotel attributes, room photos, amenities and Q&A, direct-booking link, reviews answered within 48 hours, and a brand-term Search campaign so your website, not an OTA, is the first result for your own name. Brand clicks typically cost a fraction of what the OTA charges in commission.

Direct booking engine and rate parity

A fast website with rooms, real photos, a booking engine or WhatsApp rate request, and a visible reason to book direct: breakfast, late checkout, flexible cancellation. Google Hotel Ads and free booking links added so your direct rate appears beside the OTAs.

WhatsApp concierge for enquiries and stays

Official WhatsApp API: instant rate-card reply, availability handoff to reservations, pre-arrival messages, in-stay requests, checkout review request and a return-guest offer six months later. Marketing messages cost about ₹0.86 each on Meta's India rates.

Reels, YouTube and seasonal Meta campaigns

Short vertical video of the property, the food and the drive in, edited monthly for Instagram and YouTube Shorts, plus Meta campaigns aimed at drive-market cities for long weekends, monsoon offers and the wedding season, with the ad budget in your own account.

What does digital marketing cost for a hotel or resort in India?

A boutique hotel or homestay with one property should start at ₹30,000 per month: Google Business Profile and local SEO management at ₹15,000, and a WhatsApp concierge flow at ₹15,000 on the official API. That covers the two moments that decide most direct bookings, the map listing and the enquiry reply. If the website cannot take a booking or show current rates, a rebuild from ₹60,000 one-time comes first, because ads and SEO pointing at a brochure site only feed the OTAs.

A resort competing for weekend and holiday demand adds Google Ads at ₹25,000 per month management, covering brand search, Hotel campaigns and destination terms, with an ad budget of ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000 depending on season. Meta campaigns for offers and weddings add another ₹25,000 management plus budget, or the two run together under performance marketing at ₹45,000 per month. Social media management with reels from your footage is ₹30,000 per month, and a monthly shoot moves that to ₹55,000.

Hotel groups and large resorts typically run ₹1,50,000 to ₹3,50,000 per month including ad spend, with reputation management from ₹20,000 per month across Google, TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip reviews. The comparison that matters: a property paying ₹5,00,000 a month in OTA commission that moves 20 percent of those bookings direct saves ₹1,00,000 a month, which funds the whole programme.

How do you reduce OTA commission with direct bookings?

You do not fight the OTAs; you use them as the discovery channel they are and win the guest at the moment they check you out. Almost every traveller who finds a hotel on an OTA then searches the hotel's name on Google. That search is where direct bookings are won or lost. If the OTA's ad sits above your site and your Google Business Profile has no booking link, you pay commission on a guest who was already yours. A brand-term Search campaign, a direct link on the profile and free booking links via Google Hotel listings fix this within weeks.

The second lever is the reason to book direct. Rate parity clauses limit price cuts, so the advantage has to be value: breakfast included, late checkout, a room upgrade when available, flexible cancellation, or a WhatsApp concierge who replies in a minute. State it on the website, in the profile and in the WhatsApp reply. The third lever is the guest database. Every direct enquiry and every checkout goes into your CRM or WhatsApp list with consent, so next season's offer reaches last year's guests for the cost of a message rather than a commission.

  • Brand-term Search campaign so your site outranks OTA ads for your own name
  • Google Business Profile booking link and free booking links via Hotel listings
  • A stated direct-booking benefit: breakfast, late checkout, flexible cancellation
  • Guest database on WhatsApp and email for repeat-season offers

Why reviews and video decide hotel bookings more than ad spend

A hotel with 4.5 stars and 800 reviews can charge more and spend less on ads than a 3.9-star competitor with better rooms. Guests trust other guests. So the review programme is not a nice-to-have: a checkout WhatsApp message with a direct Google review link, a reply to every review within 48 hours in the property's voice, and a calm, specific response to complaints that shows future guests how problems are handled. Over a season this moves the rating, the map ranking and the conversion rate on every channel at once.

Video does the same job for desire. A 20-second reel of the drive in, the breakfast spread and the view from the room sells a weekend better than any ad copy, and the same footage cuts into YouTube Shorts, Meta ads and the website hero. We edit reels from your phone footage at the base tier, or schedule a half-day shoot on site for properties that want a monthly content day.

We run this remotely for properties across India, from Coorg and Goa to Rajasthan, and for hotels in the UAE and UK that want an India-based team. Our office is in Bangalore, and The Mediaverse's outdoor network is available for city hotels that want autos and boards around a conference venue or airport route alongside the digital campaign.

From the founder

Hotels are a margin business, so I treat every service like a line on your P&L. The scope states what we will do each month, the price is the one on this page, and the report leads with direct bookings and cost per booking against what the OTAs charged you for the same room nights. Your Google Business Profile, booking engine, ad accounts and WhatsApp number are registered to the property, never to us, and if you change agencies nothing stops working. I read every monthly hotel report before it goes out, and if the numbers say the OTA is still cheaper for a segment, the report says that too.

FAQ

Hotels & Hospitality: straight answers

Management is ₹25,000 per month under our Google Ads Launch tier, which covers Hotel campaigns, brand search and destination terms, with your ad budget paid directly to Google. A resort with meaningful weekend demand typically spends ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000 per month in season. Google Hotel campaigns bid per booking click or as a commission-style percentage, and free booking links cost nothing, so the direct rate can appear beside OTAs at low or no media cost.
