Walk from FC Road through Deccan to Laxmi Road and the right shop name board changes three times, while the Pune card does not change at all. On our Pune page a non-lit flex board is Rs.65 to Rs.110 a sq ft, a GSB glow sign Rs.200 to Rs.350, plain monsoon-grade ACP Rs.500 to Rs.750, ACP with 3D acrylic letters Rs.650 to Rs.800 and the full 3D steel and neon treatment Rs.800 to Rs.950, each including Marathi-English design, fabrication, transport, fitting and the PMC permit. So a Pune board decision is not about finding a cheaper street. It is about which line of one card earns its keep on yours. This guide takes the page's own corridors one at a time, FC Road to Hinjewadi, prices a typical board on each, checks the page's three published Pune jobs against its card, and sets out what Maharashtra's Marathi signboard rule requires.
What does a shop name board cost in Pune in 2026?

ACP with 3D steel letters and neon LED
4 by 2 ft board: Rs.6,400 to Rs.7,600. Premium cafes, boutiques and franchise specs.
The Mediaverse Pune shop name board card as published on 5 October 2026. Each rate includes Marathi-English design, monsoon-grade fabrication, transport, installation and PMC permit work; ACP and GSB carry a 2-year monsoon warranty with LED components warranted separately. The page does not state GST on these rates, so ask whether a quote includes it.
The page is explicit that the rate does not change by street: ACP is Rs.500 to Rs.750 a sq ft on FC Road and in Hadapsar alike. What changes is which line you need and how big the frontage is. A 4 by 2 ft board, 8 sq ft, is the size the page prices in its table; most of the street examples below use the sizes from the page's own published jobs, and larger frontages are labelled as our illustration.
Which board does each Pune street need?
Pune corridors from our page, the spec each one rewards, and a board priced at the card
| Street or belt | What the page says the street rewards | Example board | At the card | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FC Road and JM Road | Photogenic ACP with 3D letters and neon-style accents, close-range and camera-ready | 5 by 3 ft, ACP with 3D acrylic | Rs.9,750 to Rs.12,000 | |
| Koregaon Park Lane 5 to 7 and Kalyani Nagar | Premium ACP, steel 3D letters, LED backlighting, restrained type | 6 by 3 ft, 3D steel with LED | Rs.14,400 to Rs.17,100 | |
| Kothrud and Karve Road | Budget ACP at Rs.500 with trending typography rather than costly letters | 4 by 2 ft, plain ACP | Rs.4,000 to Rs.6,000 | |
| Laxmi Road and the Peths | Landmark boards: generous Devanagari, daylight legibility; compact panels in slim Peth frontages | 4 by 2 ft, plain ACP (Peth) | Rs.4,000 to Rs.6,000 | |
| Camp: MG Road and East Street | Wider frontages on older buildings, English-forward layouts | 10 by 4 ft, plain ACP (our illustration) | Rs.20,000 to Rs.30,000 | |
| Shivajinagar, Deccan and Swargate coaching belt | Non-lit flex, up in 3 days before a batch opens | 4 by 2 ft, flex | Rs.520 to Rs.880 | |
| Hinjewadi, Baner and Wakad | English-primary with Marathi secondary; a glow sign because diners come after 7 PM; franchise specs | 6 by 3 ft, GSB | Rs.3,600 to Rs.6,300 | |
| Hadapsar, Kharadi and Magarpatta | Standard ACP and GSB with Marathi-English for new-build retail | 4 by 2 ft, GSB | Rs.1,600 to Rs.2,800 |
Street briefs as described on our live Pune shop name board page on 5 October 2026. Board prices are the page's per sq ft card multiplied by the board area: 5 by 3 ft and 6 by 3 ft are the sizes of the page's FC Road and Hinjewadi jobs, 4 by 2 ft is the size it prices in its table, and 10 by 4 ft for Camp is our illustration of a wider frontage. Our arithmetic.
What does a board on FC Road and JM Road have to do?
Be photographed. The page's description of FC Road is a strip where cafes open and close every few months, frontages are narrow, footpath traffic moves slowly and the person deciding where to sit is usually holding a phone. Its brief is close-range: 3D lettering that catches side light, a fascia that fills a story frame and enough contrast for evening shots. That points to the ACP with 3D acrylic line, Rs.650 to Rs.800 a sq ft. The page's own FC Road job, a 5 by 3 ft ACP board with 3D acrylic letters and a neon-style accent near the Fergusson College gate, cost Rs.11,500, which is Rs.767 a sq ft and inside that band.
Koregaon Park and Kalyani Nagar are the same idea with a bigger budget. The page calls Koregaon Park the most affluent cafe and restaurant district in the city, with boutiques and specialty coffee competing on looks, and lists the going spec as premium ACP, steel 3D letters and LED backlighting cropped to an Instagram grid. On the card that is the Rs.800 to Rs.950 line: a 6 by 3 ft board comes to Rs.14,400 to Rs.17,100.
Why do Laxmi Road, the Peths and Camp need a different board?
Laxmi Road is wedding-shopping and jewellery territory, where families arrive with intent and scan a dense wall of sari, gold and utensil shops. The page's brief is a landmark board: generous Devanagari, established-since cues and legibility from across a crowded street in daylight. Instagram polish matters less than being read from across the street. Behind it, the Peth lanes squeeze heritage-era shops into slim frontages, where the page advises a compact ACP panel with disciplined type over an oversized board that swamps the facade. A 4 by 2 ft plain ACP panel there is Rs.4,000 to Rs.6,000.
Camp runs the other way. The MG Road and East Street stretch has wider frontages on older buildings and a mixed crowd, so the page says proportions can breathe and English-forward layouts sit comfortably, subject to the Marathi rule below. A wider board is where the per sq ft card bites: at 10 by 4 ft, 40 sq ft, plain ACP is Rs.20,000 to Rs.30,000 on our arithmetic, which is why the size of a Camp fascia deserves as much thought as its material.
What do Kothrud, Karve Road and the coaching belt buy?
Value. The page describes Kothrud and Karve Road as a student-residential mix serving MIT, Symbiosis and SP College crowds with budget-to-mid cafes, where budget ACP at Rs.500 a sq ft outsells premium and trending typography does the work instead of expensive letters. Its Kothrud clinics, along with Aundh and Deccan, are told to take a calm Marathi-English GSB board carrying the required medical practice disclosures, so the clinic is findable at night.
Around Shivajinagar, Deccan and FC Road, coaching centres change premises often, and the page says most choose non-lit flex at Rs.65 to Rs.110 a sq ft and lean on the 3-day installation to be visible before a batch opens, with demand spiking each entrance-exam season. A 4 by 2 ft flex is Rs.520 to Rs.880. The risk is the monsoon: the page's own Kothrud job replaced a coaching centre's flex lost in an August storm with a 4 by 2 ft sealed ACP board in 48 hours for Rs.5,800 including a 20 percent expedite charge, about Rs.604 a sq ft before that charge and inside the ACP band.
What does the IT belt from Hinjewadi to Kharadi pay for?
Light and consistency. In Hinjewadi, Baner and Wakad the page says restaurants, pharmacies, gyms and convenience stores serve a tech workforce that eats out after 7 PM, so a GSB glow sign earns its keep and an unlit fascia is invisible; layouts are English-primary with Marathi secondary. At Rs.200 to Rs.350 a sq ft, a 6 by 3 ft glow sign is Rs.3,600 to Rs.6,300 on our arithmetic. Chain outlets build to franchise HQ drawings with exact colours and finishes matched across outlets.
The page's Hinjewadi job is the one that does not sit inside its card. Four 6 by 3 ft ACP boards with steel 3D letters for a restaurant chain in Hinjewadi Phase 1 to 3 and Wakad cost Rs.48,000 in total, about Rs.667 a sq ft. The card's steel 3D line is Rs.800 to Rs.950, which would put 72 sq ft at Rs.57,600 to Rs.68,400. The page offers multi-outlet discounts for chains with 3 or more locations but publishes no rate for them, so the gap is unexplained on the page. East of the river, Hadapsar, Kharadi and Magarpatta are described as fast-growing new-build retail where standard ACP and GSB with Marathi-English cover most briefs; a 4 by 2 ft glow sign there is Rs.1,600 to Rs.2,800.
Out in the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt the page's brief is Marathi-primary boards for supply, auto-parts and worker-serving shops, with budget ACP at Rs.500 a sq ft as the workhorse.
What does Maharashtra's Marathi signboard rule require in Pune?
More than our Pune page suggests. In 2022 Maharashtra amended its Shops and Establishments Act to add Section 36A, which requires an establishment's name board to carry Marathi in Devanagari script at the top, in a font no smaller than any other language on the board, and extended it to shops with fewer than 10 workers. A retailers' federation challenged it; in September 2023 the Supreme Court declined to set it aside and directed compliance within two months. That applies in Pune as anywhere in the state.
Our Pune page frames language as a cultural expectation that varies by street, saying there is no enforcement on the scale of Tamil Nadu and that English-primary layouts are at home in Hinjewadi and Baner. Read that as a design note, not a legal one. An English-led look is still possible, but the Marathi name has to come first and at least as large. Our Marathi-English layouts can be built that way on every street, and that is how we would brief any Pune board.
Which Pune board survives the monsoon, and what does it cost per year?
The page puts Pune's monsoon at about 1,400 mm between June and September, with high humidity from May to October, and builds its card around it: PVDF-coated ACP with sealed edges, IP65 enclosures on every glow sign and UV-resistant inks on flex. Its published life is 10 to 14 months for flex, 3 to 5 years for a glow sign and 5 plus years for ACP. At the midpoints that is about Rs.88 a sq ft per year for flex, Rs.69 for a glow sign and at most Rs.125 for plain ACP, on our arithmetic, so in Pune as in every city we publish, the glow sign is the cheapest board per year of life. Our ten-city comparison works the same sum for every card.
Which figures on the Pune page do not reconcile?
The title advertises Rs.180 a sq ft; the Pune card has no line at Rs.180, and its cheapest lit board is Rs.200. One FAQ says ACP and GSB both go 5 plus monsoon seasons, while the pricing table gives a glow sign 3 to 5 years. The Hinjewadi job prices below the card, as above. And the market overview and top-localities sections on the shop board page are written for mobile van advertising, including a city population of over 80 lakh where our Pune newspaper insertion page says 55 lakh plus; neither figure affects a board price. Our older Pune shop board post also quotes basic ACP at about Rs.7,200 for 40 sq ft, which is Rs.180 a sq ft and below this card; plan on the live card.
When should a Pune shop board go up?
Before the rain and before your season. ACP and GSB boards go from survey to installed in 5 working days and flex in 3, with a 48-hour emergency install at a 20 percent premium. The page warns that cheap flex sags before Ganpati and that a board which fails in July leaves a shop anonymous through the wettest months, so a new permanent board is best up by May. Coaching centres should time flex to the entrance-exam and admission calendar, and Laxmi Road shops to the wedding and festive months the street lives on. Book the survey a week earlier than you think; the street walk, mockups and PMC paperwork come before fabrication.
How much does a shop name board cost on FC Road in Pune?
On our Pune card, FC Road's usual spec, ACP with 3D acrylic letters, is Rs.650 to Rs.800 a sq ft including Marathi-English design, fabrication, fitting and the PMC permit. A 5 by 3 ft board is Rs.9,750 to Rs.12,000. The page's own FC Road cafe job, 5 by 3 ft with a neon-style accent near the Fergusson College gate, cost Rs.11,500, inside that band.
Is a Marathi name board compulsory for shops in Pune?
Yes. Section 36A of the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, added in 2022, requires the name board to show Marathi in Devanagari script at the top, in a font no smaller than any other language, including for shops with fewer than 10 workers. The Supreme Court declined to set the rule aside in September 2023. English can appear alongside, but not ahead of or larger than the Marathi.
Which shop board is best for a Hinjewadi or Baner restaurant?
A GSB glow sign, on our Pune page's advice, because the tech workforce there eats out after 7 PM and an unlit fascia is invisible. The card is Rs.200 to Rs.350 a sq ft, so a 6 by 3 ft glow sign is Rs.3,600 to Rs.6,300. Chain outlets usually build to franchise drawings in ACP with steel 3D letters, Rs.800 to Rs.950 a sq ft on the card.
How long does a flex board last in the Pune monsoon?
Our Pune page gives a non-lit flex board with UV-resistant inks 10 to 14 months, against 3 to 5 years for a sealed glow sign and 5 plus years for PVDF-coated ACP. The city gets about 1,400 mm of rain between June and September, and the page notes cheap unsealed flex often fails within one season. Flex suits a short lease or a coaching batch, not a permanent shop.
How quickly can a shop board be installed in Pune?
ACP and GSB boards take 5 working days from survey to installation and non-lit flex takes 3, on our Pune page. A 48-hour emergency install is available at a 20 percent premium; the page's Kothrud job replaced a monsoon-damaged coaching centre board that way for Rs.5,800. The PMC permit paperwork is handled within the price, so plan the survey a week ahead of your opening date.

Do shop board rates change between FC Road, Laxmi Road and Hinjewadi?
No. Our Pune page publishes one card for the whole city, and says so: ACP is Rs.500 to Rs.750 a sq ft on every street. What changes is the line each street needs. FC Road rewards photogenic 3D letters, Laxmi Road legible Devanagari in daylight, Kothrud budget ACP, coaching centres flex, and Hinjewadi a glow sign for after-7 PM trade.
Which shop board is cheapest per year in Pune?
The GSB glow sign. At the midpoints of our Pune card and its published life, a glow sign costs about Rs.69 a sq ft per year over 3 to 5 years, flex about Rs.88 over 10 to 14 months, and plain ACP at most Rs.125 over its 5-year floor, on our arithmetic. Flex is cheapest only when the lease is shorter than one flex life.
