Logo design in India typically costs Rs.15,000 to Rs.50,000 from a freelancer, while a full brand identity runs Rs.75,000 to Rs.5 lakh. Mediaverse Digital publishes three one-time prices: Rs.40,000 for a logo, Rs.1,00,000 for a complete identity system and Rs.2,50,000 for a brand book, each plus GST and paid half up front.
Key takeaways
- Typical Indian bands: freelancers Rs.15,000 to Rs.50,000 for 2 to 3 logo concepts, small studios Rs.50,000 to Rs.1,50,000 with a strategy summary and mini kit, established studios Rs.1.5 to 5 lakh for a full system and brand book.
- Our published tiers are one-time: Logo Rs.40,000, Identity Rs.1,00,000 and Brand Book Rs.2,50,000. With 18 percent GST that is Rs.47,200, Rs.1,18,000 and Rs.2,95,000.
- The Rs.60,000 step from Logo to Identity buys the system: positioning, full colour and type rules, stationery, 6 social templates and 20-page guidelines. The Rs.1,50,000 step to Brand Book buys strategy, research, a 40-plus page book, outdoor and packaging templates and 60 days of rollout support.
- Upgrade from Logo to Identity within 6 months and the Rs.40,000 is credited, so the total is the same Rs.1,00,000 as buying Identity first. On our reading, starting small costs nothing extra if you move inside that window.
- Every tier gets 3 concepts and 3 revision rounds, and every concept is checked on an outdoor panel at 30 metres and at favicon size before you see it.
Branding is the digital service with the widest price range in India, and most of that range comes from one confusion: a logo and a brand identity are different deliverables sold under the same word. This guide separates them using the typical Indian market bands and our own published branding and logo design tiers, and then works out what each step between the tiers actually buys, what GST does to each, and when paying for the logo first is the smarter order.
How much does logo and brand identity design cost in India in 2026?
The bands below are typical market ranges published on our branding page, not our rate card. They overlap because what is inside the fee differs more than the name on the invoice. A freelancer's Rs.40,000 and a studio's Rs.40,000 can be very different jobs, so the useful comparison is always the deliverable list, never the headline.
| Who does it | Typical price | What that usually buys |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | Rs.15,000 to Rs.50,000 | 2 to 3 logo concepts and the final files |
| Small studio | Rs.50,000 to Rs.1,50,000 | A logo with a strategy summary and a mini kit |
| Established studio | Rs.1.5 to 5 lakh | A full visual system with a brand book |
| Identity packages across the market | Rs.75,000 to Rs.5 lakh | The system around the logo, at widely varying depth |
| Guidelines document on its own | Rs.10,000 to Rs.40,000 add-on | A usage document for a logo that already exists |
Our three prices sit inside those bands on purpose. The Rs.40,000 Logo tier is inside the freelancer range, the Rs.1,00,000 Identity tier is inside the small studio range, and the Rs.2,50,000 Brand Book is at the lower half of the established studio range. What is published is the full deliverable list for each, so the comparison with any other quote can be made line by line.
| Tier | Price | Timeline | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logo | Rs.40,000 (about $800) | 3 to 4 weeks | Discovery call and written brief, 3 concepts, 3 revision rounds, vector suite in AI, SVG, PNG with mono and reverse, colour and type picks, a 1-page usage sheet, social avatars |
| Identity | Rs.1,00,000 (about $2,000) | 5 to 6 weeks | Everything in Logo, plus a positioning and tone-of-voice summary, the full colour and type system, stationery and email signature, 6 social templates and 20-page guidelines |
| Brand Book | Rs.2,50,000 (about $5,000) | 8 to 10 weeks | Everything in Identity, plus a strategy workshop, competitor and audience research, brand architecture and messaging, iconography and photography direction, a 40-plus page book, packaging, signage and outdoor templates, and 60 days of rollout support |
What does each step up from a logo actually buy?
The clearest way to read three tiers is by the difference between them. Each step below is our arithmetic on the published prices, set against the deliverables that appear in the higher tier and not the lower one.
| Step | Extra cost, before GST | What the step adds | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing to Logo | Rs.40,000 | A mark that has been tested at outdoor and phone scale, with files a printer can use | A new business, or a rebrand where only the mark is broken |
| Logo to Identity | Rs.60,000 | Positioning, full colour and type rules with print and screen values, stationery, 6 editable social templates, 20-page guidelines | Any business where more than one person or vendor will produce brand material |
| Identity to Brand Book | Rs.1,50,000 | Strategy workshop, research, messaging framework, imagery direction, 40-plus pages, packaging, signage and outdoor templates, 60 days of rollout support | A launch or rebrand that will run on packaging, signage, outdoor and digital at the same time |
The Logo to Identity step is the one most businesses under-buy. A logo alone leaves every later designer, printer and intern to guess the colours, the fonts and the spacing, and the brand drifts one job at a time. The templates inside Identity are the part that pays back fastest: a founder or a junior can produce an on-brand post or flyer in minutes instead of briefing a designer each time.
Compare it with buying the same pieces separately. A freelance logo at Rs.15,000 to Rs.50,000 plus a stand-alone guidelines document at Rs.10,000 to Rs.40,000 comes to Rs.25,000 to Rs.90,000 on the market bands, and that still leaves out the stationery, the templates and the positioning summary. Identity at Rs.1,00,000 is not the cheapest route to a logo and a PDF, and it should not be sold as one. It is priced for businesses that need the system to be used by people who are not designers.
Should you buy the logo first and upgrade later?
Often, yes, because of one published term. If you upgrade from Logo to Identity within 6 months, the Rs.40,000 already paid is credited against the Rs.1,00,000 Identity price and only the difference is invoiced. So the total is the same Rs.1,00,000 whether you buy Identity on day one or buy Logo now and Identity in month five.
| Route | Paid now | Paid later | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identity up front | Rs.1,00,000 | Nothing | Rs.1,00,000 |
| Logo now, Identity within 6 months | Rs.40,000 | Rs.60,000 | Rs.1,00,000 |
| Logo now, extension after 6 months | Rs.40,000 | Scoped separately, not published | Unknown until quoted |
When logo first is the better order
When cash is tight before launch, or when you want to see the mark working on a shop board, a first social post and a visiting card before paying for the full system. The credit removes the penalty for waiting, but only for 6 months. After that, the page says the extension is scoped again because palettes and applications may have moved on, so put the decision date in your calendar the day the logo files arrive.
What does a branding project cost with GST, and when is it paid?
GST is added to the fee for Indian clients, and every tier is paid in two halves: 50 percent at kick-off and 50 percent on final file delivery. Worked through at 18 percent, the cash you actually commit looks like this.
| Tier | Fee | With 18 percent GST | At kick-off, with GST | On delivery, with GST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logo | Rs.40,000 | Rs.47,200 | Rs.23,600 | Rs.23,600 |
| Identity | Rs.1,00,000 | Rs.1,18,000 | Rs.59,000 | Rs.59,000 |
| Brand Book | Rs.2,50,000 | Rs.2,95,000 | Rs.1,47,500 | Rs.1,47,500 |
Revision rounds do not change these numbers. Every tier includes 3 concepts and 3 revision rounds on the chosen direction, and if none of the three concepts fits, we go again once at no charge after a written note on why. Any round beyond that is quoted in writing before work starts, never added to the invoice afterwards.
What is not included in a branding fee?
Five cost lines sit outside every tier, and a fair quote from anyone should show them separately rather than leaving them to surface later.
- Font licences for commercial typefaces, bought in your name at cost. Open fonts are used where they fit, which keeps this line at zero for many projects.
- Trademark search and registration, which we recommend before launch and coordinate with your lawyer, billed separately from the design fee.
- Printing, signage fabrication, packaging production and photography or video shoots.
- Naming, quoted separately as a 2 to 3 week sprint with domain and trademark screening, if you do not yet have a name.
- Website design, social media management and outdoor campaigns, which are separate published services. Our website design cost guide covers the next budget most new brands meet.
Why test a logo on a hoarding and a phone before sign-off?
Because that is where Indian brands actually live. The Mediaverse produces creative for auto rickshaw panels, mobile vans, newspaper inserts and shop name boards across 50 plus cities, and the failures repeat: thin strokes vanish at 30 metres, gradients band on flex, low contrast palettes disappear against a road. The same mark then has to survive a 40 pixel WhatsApp avatar and a 16 pixel favicon.
So every concept is mocked up on an auto panel, a hoarding, a phone lock screen and a favicon before it is presented, and anything that fails one is fixed or dropped first. On Brand Book, the outdoor and signage templates are drawn from what we print for shop boards and vehicle campaigns, so the identity reaches the printer already proven. If the launch plan pairs street media with online spend, the digital plus outdoor service is built to run the same identity across both.
Which branding tier fits which business?
| Situation | Tier | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A new clinic, cafe or local service business with one founder doing the marketing | Logo, then Identity inside 6 months | The mark is needed now; the system can wait until the first months show what gets produced |
| A business whose freelancers each make the brand look different | Identity | The colour and type rules and the templates fix the drift; a new logo alone would not |
| A D2C label or restaurant chain launching on packaging, signage and ads together | Brand Book | Packaging and outdoor templates plus 60 days of rollout support cover the first real print runs |
| An established business with a recognised mark that fails at size | Logo or Identity, as a rebrand | The brief keeps what customers already recognise and fixes what breaks in mono, at size or next to competitors |
Whichever tier you choose, the next spend is usually the channel the brand runs on. Our social media management cost guide works through what the templates from Identity are used for month to month, and every fee on this page is also listed on our published pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rs.40,000 a fair price for a logo in India?
It sits inside the typical freelancer band of Rs.15,000 to Rs.50,000 and below the small studio band. Whether it is fair depends on the list: our Rs.40,000 covers a written brief, 3 concepts tested at outdoor and phone scale, 3 revision rounds, the full vector suite with mono and reverse versions, colour and type picks, a usage sheet and social avatars. Compare any quote line by line, not by the headline.
What is the real difference between the Rs.40,000 Logo and the Rs.1,00,000 Identity tier?
Rs.60,000 of system. Identity adds a positioning and tone-of-voice summary, full colour and type rules with print and screen values, stationery and an email signature, 6 editable social templates and a 20-page guidelines document. The logo work itself is the same. The step matters most when more than one person or vendor will produce brand material, because the rules and templates stop the brand drifting.
Does the upgrade credit mean a logo is free if I later buy Identity?
In effect, yes, inside 6 months. The Rs.40,000 paid for Logo is credited against the Rs.1,00,000 Identity price and only Rs.60,000 is invoiced, so the total matches buying Identity up front. After 6 months the extension is scoped separately and no price is published, so the credit is worth planning around rather than assuming.
How much GST is charged on logo and branding design?
GST at 18 percent is added to the fee for Indian clients. On our published tiers that makes Logo Rs.47,200, Identity Rs.1,18,000 and Brand Book Rs.2,95,000 all-in. Each is paid in two equal halves, at kick-off and on final file delivery, so the first payment with GST is Rs.23,600, Rs.59,000 or Rs.1,47,500. Font licences and trademark filing are separate lines.
Is trademark registration included in the branding price?
No, and it should be a separate line in any honest quote. We check the chosen direction against obvious conflicts in your category and recommend a formal trademark search and filing through your lawyer before launch, which we can coordinate. Full rights to the final mark and all files transfer to you on final payment, with the assignment written into the scope document.
How long does a brand identity project take in India?
On our published timelines, Logo takes 3 to 4 weeks, Identity 5 to 6 weeks and Brand Book 8 to 10 weeks including the strategy workshop and research. The biggest variable is feedback: each revision round is scheduled for 2 to 3 working days on our side, and launch dates are agreed in the brief so the rounds can be planned backwards from them.
