YouTube Ads vs Instagram Reels Ads for Indian Brands (2026): One Vertical Video, Two Ad Systems, Priced

The same 9:16 video can run as a YouTube Short or an Instagram Reel. What each ad system charges to manage, how each one bills you, what it ships every month, and the month-one cost of running one, the other, or both, from our published tiers.

At our published rates, YouTube ads management is Rs.20,000 a month and Meta management for Instagram Reels ads is Rs.25,000, each for up to Rs.1,00,000 of monthly ad spend. One Rs.60,000 Reels Pack of 8 vertical videos feeds both. Month one with Rs.30,000 of media is Rs.1,10,000 on YouTube and Rs.1,15,000 on Instagram, before GST.

Key takeaways

  • Management fees: YouTube Launch Rs.20,000 a month, Meta Launch Rs.25,000, both for ad spend up to Rs.1,00,000. Running both is Rs.45,000 a month in fees, on our arithmetic.
  • One Rs.60,000 Reels Pack, 8 vertical videos at Rs.7,500 each, is delivered as 9:16 files ready for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and Meta ads, so the creative cost is shared.
  • Billing differs: a skippable YouTube view is charged only at 30 seconds or a click, at Rs.0.50 to Rs.3 on our page's figures; Meta campaigns are bought against an objective such as leads, at Rs.150 to Rs.1,500 per lead in our audits.
  • Fresh creative differs too: YouTube Launch includes 2 ad cuts a month, Meta Launch 4 new creatives a month.
  • At these budgets the two are bought separately. Our bundled plan only adds YouTube at Rs.85,000 a month, for Rs.3 to 10 lakh of spend.

A 9:16 video shot once can run as a YouTube Short and as an Instagram Reel, so the YouTube-or-Instagram question is rarely about creative. It is about three other things: what each ad system costs to run, how it bills you, and how many fresh ads you get each month. Our YouTube ads service publishes a Launch plan at Rs.20,000 a month and our Meta ads service, which runs Instagram Reels ads, a Launch plan at Rs.25,000, each for up to Rs.1,00,000 of monthly ad spend paid to the platform from your own account. Our Rs.60,000 Reels Pack produces 8 vertical videos from a half-day shoot, delivered for Shorts, Reels and Meta ads alike. Here is what each route costs and when each one is the better first buy.

Two rows decide most choices. The billing row: on a skippable YouTube ad you pay nothing for viewers who skip, which makes YouTube a forgiving place to test whether a hook holds. The creative row: Meta Launch includes twice as many fresh creatives a month, which matters because Meta accounts are run on a creative refresh every 2 to 3 weeks. The two pages publish different units, cost per view on one and cost per lead on the other, so we have not converted them into a single winner; anyone who does is inventing an exchange rate.

What does month one cost on YouTube, on Instagram, or on both?

Our arithmetic: month one with one Reels Pack and Rs.30,000 of media per platform, before GST
RouteProductionManagementMedia to the platformMonth one totalMonths two onward
YouTube onlyRs.60,000Rs.20,000Rs.30,000Rs.1,10,000Rs.50,000
Instagram Reels ads onlyRs.60,000Rs.25,000Rs.30,000Rs.1,15,000Rs.55,000
Both, one shared Reels PackRs.60,000Rs.45,000Rs.60,000Rs.1,65,000Rs.1,05,000
Organic reels only, no adsPhone footage you shootRs.30,000 Social PresenceNoneRs.30,000Rs.30,000

Rs.30,000 of media is the bottom of the Meta page's metro lead-generation range and the equivalent of Rs.1,000 a day on YouTube, the bottom of that page's starting range, so the two single-platform rows are like for like. GST at 18 percent is added to our fees for Indian clients; the media goes to Google or Meta from your own account. The months-two-onward column assumes no new Reels Pack; most accounts need fresh footage within a quarter, which is why our YouTube page budgets a Reels Pack every quarter, about Rs.20,000 a month amortised.

Can the same vertical video run as a YouTube Short and an Instagram Reel?

Yes, and the pages plan for it. The Reels Pack is delivered as 9:16 files with and without captions, ready for Shorts, Instagram and Meta ads. Our YouTube page commits to turning creatives already winning on Meta into Shorts and in-stream tests in month one, and our social media page counts a reel reposted as a YouTube Short as one reel, not two. What does not transfer is the horizontal ad: YouTube's skippable in-stream and bumper slots want 16:9, which is why the YouTube plan's monthly cuts are edited in 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16.

  • The first 2 seconds carry both platforms: our social page writes reels around one idea, big and legible, before the thumb moves; Google lets YouTube viewers skip after 5 seconds.
  • Captions matter on both: the Reels Pack ships every file with and without captions.
  • Music in the Reels Pack edit is licensed, so the same file can run as a paid ad on either platform.
  • Ratios: one 9:16 master covers Shorts and Reels; in-stream needs a 16:9 cut from the same footage.

When should an Indian brand start with YouTube ads?

Start with YouTube when the buyer researches before buying. Our YouTube page describes the platform as reaching people in a different mood, searching, learning and comparing, It also suits a brand with long-form footage, product demos or events, because the 16:9 in-stream slot can carry 30 seconds of story that a reel cannot. And it is the cheaper first test of a hook, because skipped views cost nothing. The full Launch build is in our first ten YouTube ads playbook.

When should an Indian brand start with Instagram Reels ads?

Start with Meta when you need enquiries quickly and can handle them. The Meta Launch plan is built around lead forms with qualifying questions and an instant WhatsApp handoff, Pixel plus Conversions API tracking before any spend, and 4 fresh creatives a month on a weekly test loop. It suits local services, real estate, education and retail offers where a buyer will act on a reel today. It also reaches Facebook from the same account. The trade-off is the higher fee, Rs.5,000 a month more than YouTube Launch, and a page that sets its realistic metro lead-generation floor at Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000 of media a month.

Not ready to buy ads on either?

Organic reels cost no media. Our social media management Social Presence plan is Rs.30,000 a month for 2 platforms, 12 designed posts and 4 reels edited from phone footage you shoot to our shot list, and the page recommends reposting reels as YouTube Shorts for free reach. Social Growth at Rs.55,000 adds a monthly half-day shoot for 8 reels and boost management, with Rs.5,000 to Rs.20,000 a month as a typical starting boost budget. The full comparison is in our social media management cost guide.

Is it worth running YouTube and Instagram ads together?

Only once one of them is working. Together the two Launch plans are Rs.45,000 a month in fees, and each wants its own media: Rs.60,000 between them at the starting budgets above. Our bundled performance marketing plan does not help at this size. Its Rs.45,000 Performance Launch tier manages Meta and Google, not YouTube; YouTube joins only at Performance Growth, Rs.85,000 a month for Rs.3 to 10 lakh of spend. So below Rs.3 lakh, the two channels are bought as two Launch plans, and the honest sequence is one platform for a quarter, the winning creative moved to the other, then both.

Every fee here is on our published pricing page. The month-one totals and the combined fees are our arithmetic from those tiers. Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper to manage, YouTube ads or Instagram Reels ads?

On our published plans, YouTube Launch is Rs.20,000 a month and Meta Launch, which runs Instagram Reels ads, is Rs.25,000, both for up to Rs.1,00,000 of monthly ad spend. Meta Launch includes 4 new creatives a month against YouTube's 2 ad cuts, which accounts for part of the difference. Media is paid to Google or Meta separately, and GST is added to the fees.

Can I use the same reel for YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels ads?

Yes. Our Rs.60,000 Reels Pack delivers 8 vertical videos as 9:16 files with and without captions, licensed music included, ready for Shorts, Instagram Reels and Meta ads. One shoot feeds both platforms. Only YouTube's skippable in-stream and bumper slots need a separate 16:9 cut, which the YouTube plan's monthly ad cuts provide from the same footage.

How much does a first month of YouTube and Instagram ads cost together?

With one shared Reels Pack and Rs.30,000 of media on each platform, about Rs.1,65,000 before GST on our arithmetic: Rs.60,000 production, Rs.45,000 in the two Launch fees and Rs.60,000 of media paid to Google and Meta. From month two, without new production, it is about Rs.1,05,000 a month. Running one platform first costs Rs.1,10,000 or Rs.1,15,000.

Why don't you compare YouTube and Instagram on cost per view?

Because our two pages publish different units. The YouTube page gives Rs.0.50 to Rs.3 per skippable view, charged only at 30 seconds or a click. The Meta page gives Rs.150 to Rs.1,500 per lead from our audits, by ticket size, and no per-view rate. Converting one into the other would need a view-to-lead rate we do not publish, so we compare fees, creative and fit instead.

Is there a package that covers YouTube and Meta ads in one plan?

Yes, but only at larger budgets. Our Performance Growth plan covers Meta, Google and YouTube at Rs.85,000 a month for Rs.3 to 10 lakh of spend. The smaller Rs.45,000 Performance Launch plan covers Meta and Google only. Below Rs.3 lakh of spend, YouTube and Instagram are run as two Launch plans at Rs.20,000 and Rs.25,000.
