Content Marketing Cost in India (2026): Rs.6,000 per Article or a Rs.30,000 to Rs.1,20,000 Retainer, Worked Out Piece by Piece
The Indian per article and monthly bands, what each of our four published prices buys, and the arithmetic that shows when a retainer costs more than buying articles one at a time.

Content marketing in India costs Rs.3,500 to Rs.8,000 for a researched 1,000 word article, or Rs.15,000 to Rs.3 lakh a month on retainer. Mediaverse Digital charges Rs.6,000 per 1,200 word article, Rs.12,000 for long-form, and retainers of Rs.30,000, Rs.60,000 and Rs.1,20,000 a month, plus 18 percent GST.
Key takeaways
- Indian market bands: Rs.3,500 to Rs.8,000 for a researched 1,000 word article, Rs.3 to Rs.10 a word, Rs.12,000 to Rs.22,000 for thought leadership, and Rs.15,000 to Rs.3 lakh a month on retainer.
- Our published prices: Rs.6,000 per article of 1,000 to 1,200 words, Rs.12,000 for 2,000 plus words, and retainers of Rs.30,000 (4 articles), Rs.60,000 (8 pieces) and Rs.1,20,000 (12 pieces) a month.
- Content Foundations works out at Rs.7,500 per article, Rs.1,500 above the single article price. That Rs.6,000 a month buys publishing, schema, a newsletter and the report.
- Content Authority's 8 pieces, 6 articles and 2 long-form, cost Rs.60,000 bought one at a time, exactly the tier price. On that mix, the refreshes, lead magnet, calendar and snippets carry no extra charge.
- Content is judged at 6 months on our page, so the real entry ticket for a retainer is six months: Rs.1,80,000 on Foundations, Rs.2,12,400 with GST.
Content is priced two ways in India, by the piece and by the month, and the two are rarely compared honestly. A single article looks cheap until you count the publishing, linking and refreshing someone still has to do. A retainer looks expensive until you divide it by what it delivers. This guide sets the Indian market bands against our four published content marketing prices, then does the division: what each tier costs per piece, what the difference buys, and how long you pay before the results can be judged.
How much does content marketing cost in India in 2026?
The bands below are the typical Indian ranges published on our content marketing page, not our rate card. The spread inside each band is mostly research and editing: below the bottom of the per article band you are usually buying unedited generated text.
| What you buy | Typical price | What that usually covers |
|---|---|---|
| Researched SEO article, about 1,000 words | Rs.3,500 to Rs.8,000 | A competent writer or small agency, a brief and some research |
| Priced per word | Rs.3 to Rs.10 a word | A 1,200 word article lands at Rs.3,600 to Rs.12,000 |
| Thought leadership piece | Rs.12,000 to Rs.22,000 | Interviews and an original argument |
| Monthly package | Rs.15,000 to Rs.25,000 | 4 articles, social snippets and a newsletter |
| Retainer with strategy and publishing | Rs.15,000 to Rs.60,000 a month | Briefs from search data, publishing and linking |
| Premium program | Rs.80,000 to Rs.3 lakh a month | Ghost-writing, research pieces and digital PR |
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Per Article | Rs.6,000 (about $120), or Rs.12,000 for 2,000 plus words | Research and SEO brief, 1,000 to 1,200 words, 1 revision round, publishing-ready with meta and FAQ |
| Content Foundations | Rs.30,000 a month (about $600) | 4 SEO articles of 1,200 words with briefs, on-page publishing and internal links, 1 newsletter, FAQ and schema formatting, monthly report |
| Content Authority | Rs.60,000 a month (about $1,200) | 8 pieces: 6 articles and 2 long-form or case studies, quarterly calendar, 1 lead magnet a quarter, 2 refreshes a month, distribution snippets, everything in Foundations, report and call |
| Thought Leadership | Rs.1,20,000 a month (about $2,400) | 12 pieces including founder ghost-writing, 1 whitepaper or research piece a quarter, case studies and SME interviews, digital PR pitching, editorial lead and editor |
What does each retainer cost per article?
Dividing each monthly fee by the pieces it delivers shows what the retainers are really priced on. This is our arithmetic on the published figures, not a separate rate card.
| Plan | Monthly fee | Pieces | Per piece | Same pieces at the single article prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Content Foundations | Rs.30,000 | 4 articles | Rs.7,500 | Rs.24,000, so the retainer is Rs.6,000 more |
| Content Authority | Rs.60,000 | 6 articles and 2 long-form | Rs.7,500 on average | Rs.36,000 plus Rs.24,000 = Rs.60,000, the same |
| Thought Leadership | Rs.1,20,000 | 12 pieces | Rs.10,000 | Rs.72,000 as standard articles, Rs.1,44,000 as long-form; the mix is not published |
Three readings follow. On Foundations, the extra Rs.6,000 a month, Rs.1,500 an article, is what publishing inside your CMS, internal links, FAQ and Article schema, the newsletter and the monthly report cost. On Authority, the 8 pieces cost the same as buying them singly, so the quarterly calendar, the lead magnet each quarter, 2 refreshes a month and the social snippets come without a separate price, as long as the 2 extra pieces are long-form articles; the page also allows case studies there, and prices no single case study. On Thought Leadership, Rs.10,000 a piece sits between the standard and long-form article prices, and what the fee is really buying is the founder interviews, the quarterly whitepaper and the PR pitching.
Is Rs.6,000 an article expensive by the word?
At 1,200 words, Rs.6,000 is Rs.5 a word, and at 1,000 words it is Rs.6, inside the Indian band of Rs.3 to Rs.10. The long-form price of Rs.12,000 for 2,000 plus words is at most Rs.6 a word, less as the piece grows. Against the per article band of Rs.3,500 to Rs.8,000 for 1,000 words, our price sits in the upper half, and our page says plainly what the difference is: the brief you approve before writing, an editor pass on every draft, and formatting that is ready to publish rather than a raw document.
What a per word quote hides
Two articles at Rs.5 a word can be different products. Ask whether the price includes a keyword brief, an editor, the meta title and description, an FAQ block, and a revision round. Our single article includes all five and one revision; anything more is quoted before it happens.
What does a year of content marketing cost with GST?
| Plan | 12 months | With 18 percent GST | Output in a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content Foundations | Rs.3,60,000 | Rs.4,24,800 | 48 articles and 12 newsletters |
| Content Authority | Rs.7,20,000 | Rs.8,49,600 | 96 pieces, 24 refreshes, 4 lead magnets and 12 newsletters |
| Thought Leadership | Rs.14,40,000 | Rs.16,99,200 | 144 pieces and 4 whitepapers or research pieces |
| 48 single articles, no retainer | Rs.2,88,000 | Rs.3,39,840 | 48 publishing-ready articles; publishing, links and refreshes are yours to do |
The last row is the honest comparison for a business with its own person to publish. Forty-eight single articles cost Rs.72,000 less a year than Foundations before GST, and that Rs.72,000 is the publishing, linking, schema, newsletter and reporting you would be doing in house.
How long before content marketing can be judged?
Our page publishes the timeline: new articles on specific, lower competition questions usually start earning impressions in 4 to 8 weeks and clicks in 2 to 4 months, and meaningful traffic from a topic cluster takes 4 to 9 months of consistent publishing. It says to judge a program at 6 months on clicks and enquiries, not on the first quarter.
That makes six months the real entry ticket, and it is worth pricing before you start. On our arithmetic, six months of Foundations is Rs.1,80,000, Rs.2,12,400 with GST; of Authority, Rs.3,60,000, Rs.4,24,800 with GST. You can stop any plan with 15 days notice and keep everything already written, but stopping at month three usually means paying for the slow half of the curve without reaching the part that can be measured.
Refreshes are the exception to the wait. Pages already sitting at positions 8 to 20 in Search Console often move within 3 to 6 weeks of a refresh with updated numbers, a better opening answer and new internal links, which is why every plan from Authority up includes 2 a month, 24 in a year. If your site already has posts on page two, that line is worth more than it looks in the price table.
Should you buy articles one at a time or a monthly retainer?
| Situation | Plan | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You need 1 to 3 pieces, or you have someone who publishes in your CMS | Per Article, Rs.6,000 or Rs.12,000 | You pay only for writing; publishing and links stay in house |
| A blog that stopped in 2023 and needs a steady, properly published cadence | Content Foundations, Rs.30,000 | Rs.1,500 an article above the single price buys publishing, schema, newsletter and report |
| You are building topic clusters and have older posts on page two | Content Authority, Rs.60,000 | The pieces cost the same as buying singly, and the 24 refreshes a year come with them |
| A founder or B2B company that wants to be the cited source in its category | Thought Leadership, Rs.1,20,000 | The fee is priced on interviews, research and PR rather than on article count |
Two costs sit outside every plan. Technical SEO and link building beyond internal links belong to our SEO services, from Rs.40,000 a month, and our SEO cost guide prices those tiers in the same way. Email tool subscriptions, list growth and automation flows sit under email marketing and CRM automation, from Rs.20,000 a month. Translations into Indian languages, custom illustration and paid distribution are quoted separately, and GST is added for Indian clients.
Does content written for AI answers cost more?
Not on our card. Every piece at every price opens with a direct 40 to 60 word answer, carries an FAQ block with unique questions, and ships with FAQ, Article and author schema, because that structure is what getting cited by ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews depends on. Google's own guidance on helpful, reliable, people-first content points the same way: specific, first-hand, clearly authored pages. Deeper entity and technical work for AI search is a separate service, AI search optimisation, and every fee in this guide is also on our published pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
How much does one SEO blog article cost in India?
A researched article of about 1,000 words typically costs Rs.3,500 to Rs.8,000 in India, or Rs.3 to Rs.10 a word from agencies that price by the word. Mediaverse Digital charges Rs.6,000 for 1,000 to 1,200 words, which is Rs.5 a word at 1,200, including a keyword brief, an editor pass, one revision round, meta tags and an FAQ block. Long-form of 2,000 plus words is Rs.12,000.
Is a content retainer cheaper than buying articles one at a time?
It depends on the tier, on our arithmetic. Content Foundations at Rs.30,000 a month is Rs.7,500 per article, Rs.6,000 more than 4 single articles, and that difference pays for publishing, schema, a newsletter and the report. Content Authority at Rs.60,000 costs exactly what its 6 articles and 2 long-form pieces cost singly, so its refreshes, calendar and lead magnet carry no extra charge.
How much does content marketing cost for a year in India?
On our published retainers, twelve months cost Rs.3,60,000 on Content Foundations, Rs.7,20,000 on Content Authority and Rs.14,40,000 on Thought Leadership, or Rs.4,24,800, Rs.8,49,600 and Rs.16,99,200 with 18 percent GST. That buys 48 articles, 96 pieces with 24 refreshes, or 144 pieces with 4 whitepapers. Forty-eight single articles without a retainer cost Rs.2,88,000 before GST.
How long does content marketing take to show results?
Our page publishes 4 to 8 weeks for new articles on specific questions to earn impressions, 2 to 4 months for clicks, and 4 to 9 months for meaningful traffic from a topic cluster. Refreshes of pages already at positions 8 to 20 often move within 3 to 6 weeks. Judge a program at 6 months on clicks and enquiries, which on Foundations means Rs.1,80,000 before GST.
What is not included in a content marketing retainer?
On our plans: technical SEO and link building beyond internal links, which sit under SEO Services from Rs.40,000 a month; email tool subscriptions, list growth and automation, under Email Marketing from Rs.20,000; custom illustration, photography or video beyond licensed stock and simple diagrams; paid distribution; translations into Indian languages, quoted per piece; and GST, added for Indian clients.
Can we cancel a content marketing plan and keep the articles?
Yes. Any of our plans can be stopped with 15 days notice. You own every piece outright once it is invoiced, including briefs, drafts and source files, and articles are published under your domain and author names. Nothing is removed when the plan ends, and the calendar and briefs already produced stay with you, so a stopped plan leaves a usable pipeline behind.
