Newspaper Insertion in Pune (2026): PMC Against PCMC, and the Marathi Line That Actually Decides the Run

A 50,000 insert order reaches 16.7 to 25 percent of one Pune daily, on the published 2 to 3 lakh households per major daily, at Rs.1.25 for A5, Rs.1.70 for A4 and Rs.2.20 for the A2 SNP poster (Rs.1.15, Rs.1.50 and Rs.2.00 above 50,000, GST extra). The PMC and PCMC boundary changes nothing on that quote. The line that decides a Pune run is the reading line, Marathi in the older societies and English in the post 2010 towers, and it runs straight through PCMC.

Pune gives the 50,000 insert minimum one of the deepest bites in India, a sixth to a quarter of one daily. The 2026 card, why PMC against PCMC does not move the quote, the housing stock rule for Marathi or English, and the three season insert calendar.

Fifty thousand inserts is 16.7 to 25 percent of one Pune daily. That is the arithmetic on two figures our Pune newspaper insertion page publishes, a 50,000 unit minimum order and 2 to 3 lakh households per major daily, and it makes Pune one of the deepest cities in the country for a single insert run. The same order reaches 5 to 6.25 percent of a Delhi daily. So the Pune question is not whether the minimum is big enough. It is how to cut it across a twin city with two municipal corporations, two reading languages and seven partner titles, without the cut landing in the wrong place.

How much does newspaper insertion cost in Pune in 2026?

The Pune card is the same national card we publish in every metro, per insert and in three formats, with a lower slab rate once an order goes above 50,000 units. Design in Marathi, English and Hindi with up to 3 revisions, printing, insertion and proof of insertion sit inside the rate. GST at 18 percent sits on top of every figure below, and the Pune page publishes no separate creative fee, unlike the Hyderabad page.

Published 2026 Pune rate card. Minimum order 50,000 units, slab rate above 50,000 (the 1,00,000 plus column carries the same rates). Rates include design with up to 3 revisions, printing, insertion and proof of insertion. GST 18 percent extra. Launch 7 to 10 days from approval, 10 to 12 days for orders above 50,000.

The slab mechanics, including why an order of exactly 50,000 costs more than one of 50,001, are worked in full in the Chennai guide and apply here unchanged. This guide spends its space on what is specific to Pune.

How far does one 50,000 order go in Pune compared with other cities?

Further than in almost any other city we publish. Each city page carries its own household figure per major daily, and dividing the 50,000 minimum by it shows how much of one title a single order covers. The figures are ours, worked on the published numbers, and the last column prices one full A5 pass over a single daily at the Rs.1.15 slab rate, before GST.

50,000 inserts against one major daily, by city (our arithmetic on published figures)

CityHouseholds per major dailyShare of one daily for 50,000One full A5 pass, before GST
Jaipur1.5 to 2.5 lakh20 to 33.3 percentRs.1,72,500 to Rs.2,87,500
Pune2 to 3 lakh16.7 to 25 percentRs.2,30,000 to Rs.3,45,000
Lucknow and Ahmedabad2 to 3 lakh16.7 to 25 percentRs.2,30,000 to Rs.3,45,000
Hyderabad and Chennai3 to 4 lakh12.5 to 16.7 percentRs.3,45,000 to Rs.4,60,000
Bangalore3 to 5 lakh10 to 16.7 percentRs.3,45,000 to Rs.5,75,000
Kolkata4 to 6 lakh8.3 to 12.5 percentRs.4,60,000 to Rs.6,90,000
Mumbai5 to 7 lakh7.1 to 10 percentRs.5,75,000 to Rs.8,05,000
Delhi NCR8 to 10 lakh5 to 6.25 percentRs.9,20,000 to Rs.11,50,000

Two things follow for a Pune plan. First, a brand that wants to test inserts properly can saturate a whole Pune title for Rs.2,30,000 to Rs.3,45,000 before GST, or Rs.2,71,400 to Rs.4,07,100 landed, which is roughly a quarter to a third of the Delhi equivalent. Second, the minimum is already a large slice of one paper, so splitting it across seven titles and six zone groups thins it faster here than the headline number suggests. A 50,000 order spread evenly across seven titles is about 7,143 inserts each, 2.4 to 3.6 percent of any one daily.

One reading note on the source. Our Pune page uses the 2 to 3 lakh figure in two ways: the shared rate section labels it household reach per major daily, and the summary at the top describes it as breakfast tables across the city. We have used the per daily reading, as the rate section does. If the figure is city wide instead, a 50,000 order is still 16.7 to 25 percent of the homes it describes, so the conclusion holds either way.

Does it matter whether a Pune insert lands in PMC or PCMC?

For the quote, no. Pune is two municipal corporations, the Pune Municipal Corporation and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, and that split matters for formats that stand on the street. Our Pune pages handle PMC signage permits for shop name boards and PMC plus PCMC permits for mobile vans. A newspaper insert travels inside a paper the reader already buys, and the published Pune process has three steps, format and zones, design and print, launch in 7 to 10 days, with no permit stage in it. The per insert rate is the same on both sides of the boundary.

What the PMC and PCMC split changes, format by format, on our published Pune pages

FormatCivic permission on the published Pune pagePublished Pune priceDoes the PMC or PCMC side change the quote?
Newspaper insertNone published; the three step process has no permit stageA5 Rs.1.25, 50,000 minimumNo. Same rate and the same 7 to 10 day launch in both
Shop name boardPMC signage permits handled end to end, inside the rateNon-lit flex from Rs.65 to Rs.110 per sq ftThe permit desk differs; the page names PMC compliance
Mobile vanPMC plus PCMC permits handled by us, inside the rateFabrication Rs.8,000, Rs.10,000 or Rs.20,000 one-time, plus a day rateRoute permits are filed with whichever body the route crosses
No-parking boardSociety committee and owner permission, secured by usRs.45 a board under 5,000, Rs.35 at 5,000 plus, 1,000 minimumThe page says the PMC and PCMC locality mix moves the quotation

So the boundary is not where a Pune insert plan should start. The line that decides it is the reading line, and that line does not follow the municipal map.

Which Pune zones read Marathi and which read English?

Our Pune page publishes both the paper roster and where each language lives. Sakal and Maharashtra Times dominate the old city, the campus belt and, in the page's words, virtually all of PCMC, with Loksatta adding a serious reader audience in the same zones. The English dailies matter mainly along the western and eastern IT corridors, plus Koregaon Park and Camp. The insert page groups the city into fifteen plus zones under six headings: Central, West, the Hinjewadi corridor, East, South and PCMC.

The published Pune title to zone map

TitlesLanguageWhere the page places themPublished fit
Sakal and Maharashtra TimesMarathiKothrud, Deccan, Sadashiv Peth, Shivajinagar and the Pimpri Chinchwad coloniesAdmission season A4 brochures, Diwali dealer slips, local retail
Loksatta PuneMarathiThe same Marathi zones, a serious reader audienceWidening a Marathi run once Sakal and Maharashtra Times are booked
Times of India and Indian ExpressEnglishWakad, Baner, Pimple Saudagar and the Hinjewadi corridorCo-living and real estate A2 posters, premium B2C offers
Hindustan Times and Pune MirrorEnglishListed on the English roster; the page gives them no specific zoneWidening an English run, a planning choice rather than a published fit
CampBothCamp, which the page says reads everythingThe one zone where a single language run is always a compromise

Read that table against the municipal map and the real Pune split appears. The PCMC side is not one audience. Pimpri, Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi are long settled industrial and family colonies, which our Pune pages describe as Marathi first. Wakad and Pimple Saudagar sit on the same side of the civic boundary, and our shop board page files Wakad under PCMC, but the insert page groups them with the Hinjewadi corridor and routes them through Times of India. The language line runs through the middle of PCMC, and a brief that says only PCMC, Marathi will miss the towers entirely.

How do you decide the language for a Pune pin code?

Our Pune page publishes a practical rule for this, and it is more useful than any zone name. Look at the housing stock. If the pin code is mostly societies built before 2000, print Marathi. If it is mostly rental towers built after 2010, print English. If you cannot decide, print both and split the run. Camp is the stated exception, because the old cantonment reads everything.

Applied to a single 50,000 order, the both option becomes 25,000 Marathi and 25,000 English inserts, which is 8.3 to 12.5 percent of one daily's households in each language. That split is our planning arithmetic, not a published figure. It is worth doing when the offer genuinely serves both halves, a hospital screening camp, a two wheeler festive offer, a new cafe near FC Road. It is not worth doing for a Hinjewadi co-living launch or a Kothrud coaching brochure, where the rule already points at one language and a split simply halves the depth.

Hindi needs one line of honesty. The page publishes Hindi as a creative language alongside Marathi and English, but none of the seven partner titles is a Hindi daily. A Hindi insert therefore rides inside one of the listed papers, and the carrying title should be confirmed at the quote stage before any artwork is signed off.

Which Pune businesses does an insert fit, zone by zone?

The page publishes six industry uses, and each maps to a format, a paper and a zone rather than to the city as a whole. Education and ed tech brands put A4 brochures into Sakal's Kothrud and Deccan editions when admissions open, because Pune's published 9 lakh plus students across 800 plus colleges live in households where the parent who pays reads the same sheet. IT and co-living operators put A2 posters into Times of India runs across Wakad, Baner and Pimple Saudagar for the published 3 lakh plus tech workforce. PCMC showrooms drop A5 offer slips into the Marathi editions ahead of Diwali.

The other three are narrower. Developers use A2 posters in the growth postcodes, Baner and Balewadi to the west and Kharadi to the east. Hospitals in Koregaon Park and Aundh use A5 inserts for screening camps and new departments. A new cafe near FC Road uses an A5 launch insert with an opening week offer. Four of the six sit wholly on the PMC side. The other two straddle the boundary: co-living runs from Baner into Wakad and Pimple Saudagar, and the dealer offers reach Hadapsar as well as the Pimpri Chinchwad colonies. That is one more reason to plan by reading line rather than by corporation.

When should a Pune insert drop?

The page publishes a Pune insert calendar with three distinct seasons. June to August is admission season, the heaviest window, when every coaching centre, college and PG operator is in the paper at once, and education clients are asked to lock their zones by mid May. September to November runs from Ganeshotsav to Diwali, when PCMC dealer offers, electronics retail and real estate possession season creative take over. February to April is the quiet stretch and, on the page's own account, the best value, because the same 50,000 run meets far less competing paper inside the fold.

The published Pune insert calendar

WindowMonthsWho is in the paperWhat it means for a booking
Admission seasonJune to AugustCoaching centres, colleges, PG operatorsLock Kothrud and Deccan zones by mid May; late June slots are ones somebody else released
Festival and possession seasonSeptember to NovemberPCMC dealers, electronics retail, real estateBook 7 to 10 days ahead, 10 to 12 above 50,000, and earlier in the Diwali print rush, when the page notes slower vendors slip
Quiet stretchFebruary to AprilFar fewer competing insertsThe page calls it quietly excellent value: one flyer alone instead of one in a stack of five

The monsoon changes timing, not delivery. The page publishes that Pune vendors bag papers in plastic sleeves in heavy spells, that deliveries in low lying pockets can slip by about an hour on cloudburst mornings, and that paper stock is weighted slightly heavier for June to September runs so an A5 slip does not wilt. The practical rule it draws is to avoid pinning a one day offer, an opening day coupon or a single day sale, to a morning with a violent forecast.

What proof do you get after a Pune insert run?

The page publishes GPS tagged photo proof from every zone covered, Pimpri Chinchwad and Hadapsar included, zone reports, and QR tracked response data, delivered to WhatsApp and email. For a split run, ask for the proof and the QR codes to be separated by language as well as by zone. That is the only way to learn, after one campaign, whether the Marathi half or the English half of a Pune order earned its 25,000 inserts.

What is not on the Pune card?

Four things. Quantities below 50,000, which are not published at any rate. GST, which is 18 percent on top of every figure here. Any response rate, because we publish none for Pune or anywhere else, and the enquiry calls the page describes for admission season are a pattern, not a benchmark. And a firm answer on turnaround in peak weeks: the process block publishes 7 to 10 days, 10 to 12 above 50,000, while a separate line on the same page promises 7 days even in the June crush. Plan on the longer figure and treat the shorter one as a bonus.

What is the minimum newspaper insertion order in Pune?

Fifty thousand inserts per campaign, in any format. At the published rates that is Rs.62,500 for A5, Rs.85,000 for A4 and Rs.1,10,000 for the A2 SNP poster before GST at 18 percent, or Rs.73,750, Rs.1,00,300 and Rs.1,29,800 landed. Above 50,000 the slab rates of Rs.1.15, Rs.1.50 and Rs.2.00 apply. A split Marathi and English run of 25,000 each is still one 50,000 order.

Is Sakal or Times of India better for a Pune insert?

It depends on the housing, not the brand. Sakal and Maharashtra Times carry the Marathi households of Kothrud, Deccan, Sadashiv Peth and the Pimpri Chinchwad colonies, which suits coaching, dealer offers and local retail. Times of India carries the rental towers of Wakad, Baner and Pimple Saudagar, which suits co-living, real estate and premium offers. Our page publishes a rule of thumb: pre 2000 societies read Marathi, post 2010 towers read English.

Do you need PMC or PCMC permission to run a newspaper insert in Pune?

Nothing we publish says so. The Pune insert process is three steps, choosing format and zones, design and print, then launch in 7 to 10 days, with no permit stage. That is the contrast with street formats: our Pune pages handle PMC signage permits for shop name boards and PMC plus PCMC permits for mobile vans. Election material is the exception, since pamphlets must carry the printer and publisher details required by law.

Can one Pune insert order cover both PMC and PCMC?

Yes. The 50,000 minimum is per campaign, not per corporation, and the page lists PCMC as one of six zone groups alongside Central, West, the Hinjewadi corridor, East and South Pune. The rate is the same on both sides. What changes across PCMC is the language: Marathi in Pimpri, Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi, English in the Wakad and Pimple Saudagar towers, so a PCMC brief should name both.

When is the cheapest time to run newspaper inserts in Pune?

The rate card does not change by season, but the value does. Our page names February to April as the quiet stretch, when a 50,000 run meets far fewer competing inserts inside the fold. June to August is the heaviest window because of admissions, with zones worth locking by mid May, and September to November brings the Ganeshotsav to Diwali rush of dealer, electronics and real estate offers.

Quick Answers

How much does newspaper insertion cost in Pune in 2026?

The published Pune card is priced per insert with a 50,000 unit minimum. The A5 flyer is Rs.1.25, the A4 brochure Rs.1.70 and the A2 SNP poster Rs.2.20, easing to Rs.1.15, Rs.1.50 and Rs.2.00 above 50,000 units. At the minimum that is Rs.62,500, Rs.85,000 and Rs.1,10,000 before GST at 18 percent, or Rs.73,750, Rs.1,00,300 and Rs.1,29,800 landed. Design in Marathi, English and Hindi is included.

How much of one Pune newspaper does a 50,000 insert order reach?

Between 16.7 and 25 percent of one title. Our Pune page publishes 2 to 3 lakh households per major daily, so the minimum order covers a sixth to a quarter of a single paper's doorsteps. The same order reaches 5 to 6.25 percent of a Delhi daily. Covering one whole Pune daily once with A5 inserts costs Rs.2,30,000 to Rs.3,45,000 at the slab rate, before GST.

Should a Pune insert run in Marathi or English?

Follow the housing stock, not the municipal boundary. Our Pune page publishes the rule: societies built before 2000 read Marathi papers such as Sakal and Maharashtra Times, rental towers built after 2010 read English papers such as Times of India, and a mixed pin code gets both with the run split. Split evenly, 50,000 becomes 25,000 in each language, 8.3 to 12.5 percent of one daily.
