AI SEO Month by Month: What the Work Is and What It Costs (2026)
The calendar behind a GEO retainer, month by month, with the cumulative bill and the cumulative output beside it. Written off our own published tiers and our own practice.

AI search optimization starts at Rs.40,000 a month on Foundations with a 3-month minimum, so Rs.1,20,000 committed for 12 answer-first articles plus the technical, schema and entity work. Authority is Rs.75,000 a month for 8 or more articles, digital PR and original data. Both then run month to month.
Key takeaways
- Month one is not content. It is technical fixes, AI crawler access for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended, the schema and entity graph, a directory sweep and the baseline prompt panel. Publishing starts from week three.
- The minimum term is 3 months, which is Rs.1,20,000 on Foundations and Rs.2,25,000 on Authority before 18 percent GST. That buys 12 and 24-plus articles respectively.
- Our own page says AI visibility often moves at 3 to 6 months and that months 4 to 9 are where the curve bends, so the honest planning horizon is 9 months: Rs.3,60,000 and 36 articles on Foundations.
- Per article, the fee ceilings are Rs.10,000 on Foundations and Rs.9,375 on Authority, by our arithmetic if you attribute the entire retainer to the articles and value the technical, schema, reporting and PR work at zero.
- The Rs.35,000 step from Foundations to Authority buys at least 4 more articles, which is Rs.8,750 each, below the Foundations ceiling. On that reading the digital PR, the original data piece and the quarterly deep-dive are unpriced.
- The monthly prompt panel is 20 to 40 buyer questions across 5 engines, so 100 to 200 engine answers logged a month, and 900 to 1,800 across a nine-month programme.
Generative Engine Optimization is sold by the month and bought by the quarter, which is the mismatch most quotes hide. Our AI search optimization page publishes two tiers, Foundations at Rs.40,000 a month and Authority at Rs.75,000, both with a 3-month minimum and month-to-month after that. It also publishes the honest timeline: AI-engine visibility often moves at 3 to 6 months, and months 4 to 9 are where the curve bends. Those two facts do not sit comfortably together, and this post is about what happens in the gap.
So here is the calendar rather than the price list. What ships in month one, what changes in months two and three, what the minimum term actually delivers, and what the nine-month version costs and produces. Every figure is from our own published cards, and every total is our arithmetic on them, before 18 percent GST.
What does month one of an AI SEO programme actually produce?
Almost no content, and that is the correct answer rather than an excuse. Month one is the foundation work published in our process: the technical audit, explicit AI crawler access, the schema and entity graph, and a sweep of every profile and directory where your business facts disagree with each other. The baseline prompt panel is run in this month too, because without it there is nothing to measure month twelve against.
- The audit, baseline prompt panel and a prioritised 90-day roadmap, delivered within 7 working days. Our page states you keep that roadmap even if you do not hire us.
- Technical SEO fixes: crawlability, indexing, Core Web Vitals and rendering, plus explicit access for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended in robots.txt. Engines cannot cite what they cannot fetch.
- Schema and the entity graph: Organization, Person, Service, FAQ, Article and Product markup, and a sameAs graph so the engines resolve your brand as one known entity instead of a string of text.
- The directory sweep: name, description, category, founder and pricing facts aligned across Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Justdial and the industry directories, because engines cross-check sources before they trust one.
- Publishing begins from week three, which is why month one still delivers its 4 articles on Foundations but delivers them late in the month.
Judge month one on the audit, not on rankings
Nothing published in week three has had time to be indexed, retrieved or cited by the end of month one. If an agency shows you a citation win in month one, ask which prompt produced it and whether the baseline panel was run before the work started. Without a baseline, every later claim is unfalsifiable.
What happens in months two and three?
The rhythm turns editorial. Four answer-first articles a month on Foundations or 8 or more on Authority, each opening with a 40 to 60 word direct answer, question-phrased headings, sourced statistics and a FAQ block, plus existing pages restructured one at a time. At month end the prompt panel is re-run across all five engines. You are reading the format now: every post on this blog opens with that same 40 to 60 word block, which is the answer-first structure we sell because we ship it here first.
Month three is the end of the minimum term and the first honest decision point. On Foundations you have paid Rs.1,20,000 before GST and received 12 articles, the technical and entity foundation, three directory and profile passes and three prompt panels. Our page publishes long-tail rankings landing at 2 to 4 months, so month three is where the earliest movement is visible, and it is usually thin. That is the point at which a programme is either continued on evidence or stopped cheaply.
When does AI visibility actually move?
Our own page gives three windows, and they are worth separating because they are not the same thing. Long-tail Google rankings at 2 to 4 months. AI-engine visibility often at 3 to 6 months, faster than Google because directory and entity work gets picked up quickly. Meaningful traffic and leads at 4 to 9 months. Nobody can promise a specific mention in a specific engine, and our page says so in those words.
| Window | What ships | Cumulative fee before GST | Cumulative articles | What our page says to expect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Days 1 to 7 | Audit, baseline prompt panel, 90-day roadmap | Roadmap is yours either way | 0 | A measurement baseline, not a result |
| Month 1 | Technical fixes, AI crawler access, schema and entity graph, directory sweep; publishing from week 3 | Rs.40,000 | 4 | Nothing indexed long enough to judge |
| Months 2 to 3 | 4 articles a month, existing pages restructured, monthly panel across 5 engines | Rs.1,20,000 | 12 | Long-tail rankings land at 2 to 4 months |
| Months 4 to 6 | Same editorial rhythm, entity and directory work compounding | Rs.2,40,000 | 24 | AI visibility often moves at 3 to 6 months |
| Months 7 to 9 | Same rhythm, clusters deepening on commercial topics | Rs.3,60,000 | 36 | Meaningful traffic and leads at 4 to 9 months |
Read the third and fifth columns together, because that pairing is the whole cost question. The minimum term ends at Rs.1,20,000, in the window where our own page expects only long-tail movement. The results the programme is actually bought for sit at Rs.2,40,000 to Rs.3,60,000. Anyone deciding on a GEO retainer should be deciding about the nine-month number, and anyone selling one on a three-month promise is selling the wrong horizon.
What does the Authority tier add for Rs.35,000 more?
| Foundations Rs.40,000/mo | Authority Rs.75,000/mo | |
|---|---|---|
| Answer-first articles a month | 4 | 8 or more, in clusters |
| Technical, schema, entity, directory work | Included | Included |
| Digital PR and listicle outreach | Not included | Monthly, every placement reported with its URL |
| Original data or report production | Not included | One per quarter |
| Strategy deep-dive | Not included | Quarterly |
| Fee ceiling per article, our arithmetic | Rs.10,000 | Rs.9,375 |
| Three-month minimum, before GST | Rs.1,20,000 | Rs.2,25,000 |
| Nine months, before GST | Rs.3,60,000 | Rs.6,75,000 |
The per-article rows are worth explaining because they are deliberately unfair to us. They assume the entire retainer pays for articles and that the technical work, schema, entity graph, directory consistency, reporting and prompt panel are worth nothing. On that assumption Foundations tops out at Rs.10,000 an article and Authority at Rs.9,375, so the larger tier is the cheaper one per piece.
Run the step on its own and it goes further. The Rs.35,000 difference buys at least 4 more articles, which is Rs.8,750 each, below the Foundations ceiling. In that reading the digital PR, the quarterly original data piece and the quarterly deep-dive cost nothing at all, which is obviously not true in labour and is exactly why we would rather you read the deliverable list than the per-unit maths. The outreach half is what our page says the engines actually lean on when asked to recommend a vendor.
How does that compare with what the market charges?
Our page describes two common shapes for GEO pricing in India. The add-on: Rs.10,000 to Rs.30,000 bolted onto an SEO retainer that itself runs Rs.15,000 to Rs.2,00,000, so a combined Rs.25,000 to Rs.2,30,000 with no clear line between the two kinds of work. And the standalone premium programme that repackages content and PR. Foundations at Rs.40,000 sits inside that combined band, and our SEO cost breakdown covers the classic-SEO half of the comparison in detail.
The international comparison on the same page is blunter: US and UK agencies typically charge $2,000 to $5,000 a month for comparable scope, against $750 for Foundations and $1,400 for Authority. The difference is cost structure rather than effort, which is the reason international clients hire Indian agencies at all.
What is not included in the retainer?
- Paid placements or sponsored listicle slots. Any mention a publisher charges for is outside this programme by policy.
- Google Ads, Meta ads and every other kind of paid media spend.
- A website rebuild, if the platform blocks the technical fixes. The audit says so plainly and quotes it separately.
- Video, photography and custom illustration for articles and reports.
- Review generation and reputation repair, which are scoped under reputation management instead.
- GST at 18 percent, which is added to the retainer for Indian clients and is not in any figure above.
The one question that sorts real GEO quotes from labels
Ask for three numbers in writing: articles per month, placement targets per month, and the measurement method with the engine list and the question count. Our published answer is 4 or 8-plus articles, monthly outreach reported with URLs on Authority, and a panel of 20 to 40 questions across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews. A quote without those three is selling the label rather than the work.
If you are costing this now, budget for month nine and treat the three-month minimum as the exit you hope not to take. Every figure here is on our published pricing page and repeated in the scope document before any payment, so the calendar above can be checked against the card rather than against a proposal.
Frequently asked questions
How much does AI SEO cost per month in India?
Mediaverse Digital publishes Foundations at Rs.40,000 a month (about $750) and Authority at Rs.75,000 (about $1,400), both with a 3-month minimum and month-to-month after that, before 18 percent GST. The wider Indian market usually sells GEO as a Rs.10,000 to Rs.30,000 add-on to an SEO retainer of Rs.15,000 to Rs.2,00,000, which makes it hard to see what the GEO half is actually buying.
What is the minimum commitment for an AI SEO retainer?
Three months on both tiers, which is Rs.1,20,000 on Foundations and Rs.2,25,000 on Authority before GST. The minimum exists because month one is foundation work and month two is the first full editorial month, so a one-month engagement would pay for the setup and none of the compounding. After the minimum both tiers run month to month.
How long before AI engines start citing my site?
Our page publishes AI-engine visibility often moving at 3 to 6 months, faster than Google because entity and directory work is picked up quickly, with long-tail rankings at 2 to 4 months and meaningful traffic and leads at 4 to 9 months. No agency can promise a specific mention in a specific engine, and the monthly prompt panel exists so the claim is checkable either way.
How many articles does an AI SEO retainer produce?
Four a month on Foundations and 8 or more on Authority, each written answer-first with a 40 to 60 word direct answer, question-phrased headings, sourced statistics and a FAQ block. Across the 3-month minimum that is 12 and 24-plus articles, and across a nine-month programme 36 and 72-plus. Existing pages are also restructured one at a time alongside the new ones.
Which AI engines are tracked, and how is visibility measured?
Five: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Every month the same panel of 20 to 40 buyer questions runs through each engine, recording whether the brand is named, which page or third-party source was cited, and what the engine says about you. That is 100 to 200 engine answers logged a month by our arithmetic, reported as citation share beside Google rankings.
Should I start with Foundations or Authority?
Foundations, unless being cited in comparison articles is the whole point of the programme. The technical, schema, entity and directory work is identical on both tiers and it is what has to land first. Authority adds article volume, digital PR outreach and original data, which matter most once the foundation is in place. Moving up a tier later costs Rs.35,000 a month more and needs no rebuild.
